Tova Mordechai
Born to an Egyptian Jewish mother and a British Protestant evangelical father, she rose through the ranks of her faith as an ordained minister – before finding her way back to her Jewish roots.
Growing Up
She grew up in a large, hardworking farming family in the English countryside – her father a farm hand and preacher, her mother often out in the fields helping make ends meet for four young children born less than a year apart.
Life as a Minister
She rose through the ranks of her faith, educated and ordained at a noted theological seminary – not only as a minister, but as a “prophetess.” Outwardly accomplished, she remained unfulfilled, despairing, and numb inside.
Today
Today, she lives in Safed, Israel, with her husband and five children. She works as assistant to the directors at the Chaya Mushka and Machon Alte seminaries, and lectures throughout the world on being Jewish in contemporary society.
